Hi I'm British and my wife Canadian. We found out my wife was pregnant with our first child before we submitted our spouse PR application where we ticked the box that she was pregnant but there weren't any follow-up questions. Would we need to fill out more paperwork for the baby which will arrive before the application is processed.

I looked up about dual citizenship and it seems that the baby would become a Canadian citizen even if it's born in England because my wife is Canadian. Does that simplify matters so I could just apply for a Canadian passport for the baby and travel with it to Canada when we move.

Would I need more paperwork because technically i'll have a dependant?

Any advice is appreciated.

As you said, the baby will be a Canadian. You guys just have to apply for the baby's Canadian passport in England.

No. The baby won't be considered a dependant as s/he is a Canadian citizen already.

Just inform CIC when the baby is born, and follow their instructions should there be any. No need to worry.
