HI, wife is a Canadian citizen. Her mom is Canadian and gave birth to her in the States. She has been here her whole life. Has a MA and BA from american college.

Does she need to have ECA on these degrees?

Seems like ECA is for immigrants and she is not.

Do Canadian citizens who are residence and go to school in the States have to do anything to have their degrees validated for Canada?

Hi

ECA is for anyone who wants to have their foreign credentials assessed.

Generally, American degrees are recognized in Canada.

I'm not sure what exactly she is validating her degrees for (i.e., employer requirement, technical license, etc.) but U.S. degrees are generally accepted by employers without any external validation.

NOt sure about an ECA but my American wife needed to get her physiotherapy master's degree from a U.S. University officially recognized by the physiotherapy association of Ontario before she could get her license to practice in Ontario. The procedure was easy but the fee was very costly. Probably just a cash grab.
