Wife has no reason to go back to UK

Maybe a stupid question but we're real close to doing this and don't want any mistakes. I've noticed on here that one of the questions the border needs to satisfy before letting someone into Canada is will they leave when their time is up. I'm Canadian sponsoring my wife from UK and we're bringing two children who have dual Canada/UK. We're applying outland because it's quicker and proof of relationship is 14 years worth so no interview should be required. My question is could they refuse my wife entry as a tourist while she waits for her papers on the grounds that she has no connection to the UK since her husband and children are no longer there? Quite the opposite she's going to insist on entry because her husband and children are now living in Canada. I know I should bring proof of a pending app with us to the border. Is there any other documentation that will be accepted as proof that an app is in process?

Well, they denied my request in spite of a job I have to come back to, so I'd say that's definitely something they are going to look at, her not having sufficient ties remaining to the UK.

I travelled with my Canadian husband from UK to Canada in May 2010 after I left my job in UK and he started a new in Canada. They just asked us at Canadian border if we had friends in Canada - yes and that was it.

I stayed in Canada for 2 months 3 weeks and 4 days and then have come back to UK to get all paperwork and medical done.

I had no problems getting into Canada at all, but then again, I wasn't nervous or worried about it, and just went normally through, if they had asked me different questions, maybe the outcome would have been different.

I arrived with my 15 year old son in September 2007, the only issue i had was that the IO was concerned about whether my son's father was aware of him being in Canada. Once this was sorted I was granted a standard visa stamp and able to stay the 6 months.

This was with a one way ticket as well.

Normally, Brits do not have a problem unless they are not nationals.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not expecting any problems at the border, just covering all the bases. I suppose if the IO was having a bad day and decided to take it out on us we could go above him to his supervisor in the first instance and really as a last resort demand entry on humanitarian grounds since seperating a mother from her children is more for Nazis than Canadians.

I don't know if your humanitarian reasons will work out because immigration separates families all the time. Besides, it would be you, the parents, who are separating the mother from the children since you don't actually have to leave the UK until she gets her PR visa.

Still, I think it's unlikely that she would be denied entry if coming for a visit to Canada with her family but if you look like you are actually moving to Canada, they might want some proof that she is planning on leaving again if her PR doesn't come through. It's akin to people from the US showing up at the border with all their stuff in a U-haul. They are obviously moving to Canada but you can not officially move on a visit visa.
