Pretty amazing considering we had all the documentation that was asked for!

5 grounds: not enough money, length of stay, purpose of visit, employment situation and financial asset!

My condo is all paid for and I would have like my wife to visit my parents! Room and board would be provided and she would have $3500 at her disposal! Airplane ticket (return) was all paid for. We even had medical coverage (something that is not required, amazingly)! She had a boss vouch for her and asking her to come back. The visit would have been for 2 months. She has a car that she is paying for in her country. I am in the process of selling my condo. I quit my job. The funny thing is that on the form that is given by the visa offiver, there is nothing that states that having a criminal record can be a reason to refuse entry! SO, I guess, a person with a criminal record that would fulfill all the "requirements" could come to Canada!

I just don't get it!

it could be a case for too much shown? seen that happen and in case of wife, they always suspect that she will stay back

How is her travel history...amazingly, the most amount of refusals I have seen are for single young guys and wives ( I guess as per CIC, highest risk factor )

But you can always reapply ( after some time )

The visitor form has that question and dont think they do security check for everyone. For eg, celebrities with pending criminal case has been allowed visa

Thanks for the reply!

It is hard to know. It seems that these people pick people depending on other factors! I know of a friend from the same country who apparently did not have a lot of money into her account and no problem! Of course, her father was --before he retired-- some dort of official! My wife's father is a father! I have brought this last issue to the minister, my MP ... as a possible human rights violation. I mean why do they need to know what my wife's father's occupation is?

This, in Canada, would NEVER fly!

What I find amazing is that WE need to proof beyond a reasonable doubt our case, but they do NOT!

I mean, speak of double talk!

This process is an absolute joke and anti-constitutional. If I had more money I would fight it under the charter!

Its quite hard to fight immigration, and frankly you need lot of luck. Try and talk to your MP or simply reapply

My wife is going to try to go to the embassy with a friend who has done this before and get an interview and, at least, get some explanation as to what needs to be done or clarify matters! Maybe there is a misunderstanding! The thing is that she has no interest to stay in Canada and I don't either! We believe we gave them all the documents we could think of, but maybe they need more! But, what?

Hello Petermare,
I am about to apply for a tourist visa to see my mother in-law too, i hope they will grant me a visa.
This must be so devastating for both of you, she can reapply again and i hope she could get one.
My husband and I are not going to relocate to Canada too, he is going to be an American Citizen
in 6 months, he has 2 american citizen kids from his first wife, and i am also sponsored as a nurse in California. All i want is to see my sick mother in-law. We haven't seen each other before.
I have travel history, as i worked as a nurse in the ship before, i have traveled the world and has proof of properties
of my own and show money. Well i guess it's all luck for all of us.
Good luck and i hope she will be granted a visa soon.

Hey Peter, I can understand your frustration. I was in the same boat as well. Me and my wife applied with all documentation and we still got denied even tho I had visited her couple times before on a TRV - provided same documentation as last time and still got rejected. Their only reason for denial was: family ties(in my country of residence and that in Canada) last time they had no problems and this time they had problems kind of hard to understand how they grant visas especially in developing countries. My wife did bring this matter up with her local MP and they told her they will take the issue up with CIC. Next time I'll apply after she gets a letter of Recommendation from her MP (it is believed that it helps - not quite sure tho)- I believe its time they streamline this TRV process for spouses of Canadian citizens just like they introduced super visa for parents and G-parents of can citizens they should do the same for spouses. Britain/Aus have spouse visas(TRV) why can't canada have one too.
