Hello everyone,
my wife will be eligible to apply for citizenship first half of June, while I would only be eligible a bit later in August (well, only if Bill C-24 hasn't come into effect by then).
My company wants to relocate me to the US for some time, and it looks like a good opportunity so I would like to take it. However, we both love and call Canada our home, have been living here for six years and want to be able to come back to Canada.
So here's the question : if she applies for citizenship in June, and then I relocate to the US at that time and she stays in Canada until she gets it (we are in the GTA so hopefully it shouldn't take too long), would me being in the US jeopardize her application ? I'm looking for feedback in two scenarios : 1) if the "intent to reside" clause hasn't come into effect at the time of her application, 2) if it has
Thanks so much for your advice, sharing experience, etc.
