Wife Already PR

Hi guys,

I have a question. I am about to apply under CEC for permanent residence shortly. My wife is already a PR in Canada for quite some time. Do I still have to include her in my application as she will not be a dependent to me anyway.

Thanks.

Read the generic application form, the answer is right there under "dependants" and the CEC guide as well.

Correct. On the generic application form, you only list dependants who are not already canadian citizens or permanent residents.

In the generic form that is fine but how about in the additional family information and background schedule A forms? It says there there that the spouse has to fill separate forms as well. Would that be the case even if she is already a PR?

Thanks.

Yes you need to indicate if you are married or not, to a PR or not. this is for your background check. your wife is therefore not your dependant, but you need to indicate that you are married to her.

Re: Wife Already PR (URGENT)

and does she have to fill in the forms as well as she is already a PR? Please let me know urgently as this is the last step in completing my application before I submit.

Thanks

NO - since she is not part of the application...

It wouldn't hurt to include a letter explaining why your wife is not part of the application, and a photocopy of her PR card...

Because in the additional family information and background forms it says that the principal applicant and spouse whether they are accompanying you or not have to fill in these two forms. Which is what has confused me now. So is it for sure that she wont have to fill these two forms because she is already a PR?

Jes and other senior members your replies would be appreciated.

Thanks.
