Dear All in this forum,
I really need to have this question answered or at least some explanations to be provided. How can we old applicants understand that the long waiting time after medicals is due to background checks while other applicants who applied after February 2008 are getting their pprs in a short time after medicals. what's the difference? aren't we all undergoing the same checks?

Your application is processed based on the regulations in force at the time you applied.

So, it might be that our background checks are finished but our application is in queue just because we have to wait for this time. it is the processing time (regulations at the time we applied).

When you applied that time Federal immigration process were not fast track , After February 2008 Fast track Federal immigration decided specific NOC codes periodically (mostly yearly).
you applied under old immigration rules its still applied on your file, even it will be remains untill you get your visa.
I guess you have to understand FSW fast track immigration system then your normal track immigration system which you applied before.

Contrary to what others suggest - there's NO DIFFERENCE between 'old' & 'new' case files AFTER MEDICALS.
All the queue, wait times, fast-track, symplified processing etc. stand incognito thereon. The processing for the PHEP remains the SAME for all applicants once their meds r cleared. And that is subject to only 2 things:
a) Med Results being seconded & returned by PMB Ottawa; and
b) Clearance of your Security Checks.

And the PPR should be expected by 3-5 months in most cases (after meds). If there's a security Xcheck thru various agencies - it should yet be completed by 7 months (as observed over many yrs vide various forums). And only in rare cases the applicant might cross a yr - aka reMeds. A very few have been also observed to cross-over 2 medicals -- but this is extreme rarity.

Delays could be there, but it is on "case-to-case" basis (the long despised term in immig circles!); and/but has nothing to do with one's lock-in/application date. Remember, by the time we r onto our meds -- we have gotten-out of all the queues.

to make it clear ..it depends on case to case .
Also your nationality may delay the security check ( if you from Afghanistan,pakistan,iraq,sudan,other ME countries) also your name if your name are familier to black listed , it may delay also till they clear your case....also if you live in many countries more more than 6 month each it will delay also the decision

I doubt it. The processes seem to be equal except the fact that if a RED FLAG comes along.

No. They usually know whom to dig deeper.
