Hello and welcometavul said:Hi.. I have a question.. My visa office is Warsaw and they requested passport copies.. Shouldnt they ask for passport ? I am not from visa-exempt country, so they will ask for my passport in the end.. What is the next step after this?

I have seen that but none of them knows why either.. I don't see any sense .. So please anyone can explain me why ?? If I were from visa-exempt country that would be ok.. But now I think it's just a waste of time..
expiry date is 2024.. but i changed my last name after marriage.. But I know someone who didnt change and was requested too.keesio said:Was you passport close to expiry when you applied? Did you change your name after marriage?
What did the letter say in which they requested the copies? If they were requesting the passport copies to issue the CoPR they would say so in the letter. So, if the letter doesn't say you've been approved they are requesting the passport copies for some other reason (e.g., background checks, verifying travel history).tavul said:I have seen that but none of them knows why either.. Without more information on your case, I don't knowtavul said:It means I have to wait for a long time?? my medical will expire soon in 2 weeks and my status is in progress..
There r many people, also me going through Warsaw embassy from visa-required countries who were also requested passport copies, don't know why copies are needed..for example me(from visa-required country)-I was requested to provide all copies of my passport on Feb 11th and was requsted to redo my medical on Feb 20th,,my medical was expired on Feb 3rd,,I noticed that the e-mail which requests remedical from me is sent from Visa section,,therefore I guess and hope that my copies and not only my copies are in the Visa section and hopefully they will request the original passports soon.tavul said:Hi.. Don't worry,,I hope u get ur passport request before it expires,,but if u r requested to redo it u will get it soon..Practice shows when people are requested to do remedical it doesn't take too long to get the passport request. Now I hope so cause I am in that situation and waiting..waiting..waiting,,,,the only thing that confuses me is that my ecas changed into in process on Feb 11 : the day they requested the copies (in process after 6 months, ugh ((of course don't account 2 months my file stayed in Moscow, othervise it would be 8 months)) ).tavul said:It means I have to wait for a long time?? my medical will expire soon in 2 weeks and my status is in progress..
This is the e mail requsting the copies sent by Warsaw Embassy.OhCanadiana said:What did the letter say in which they requested the copies? Thanks for this. Given that they say "There must be at least two blank pages in your passport." it would indicate they realize you need a visa (i.e., are not a citizen of a visa-exempt country) as one will be for your visa foil and the other for the landing stamp. So, no need to worry about them overlooking that.GMG said:This is the e mail requsting the copies sent by Warsaw Embassy.
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.
Please be advised that in order to continue the processing of your application, you are requested to provide a copy of all pages of your passport by mail, e-mail (warsaw-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca) or by fax (48 22 584-3194). If a copy of passport is sent by e-mail - scan your passport pages in PDF (JPG is also acceptable). Our system will accept attachments up to 9MB only. If you need to compress your documents, please do so in ZIP format (this is the only format accepted by our system). There must be at least two blank pages in your passport. The passport should be valid for the next twelve months and should be the passport that you intend to use to enter Canada. Ordinary passports are the only type of passport into which a permanent resident visa may be inserted. Diplomatic, official and special passports are not acceptable.
Please provide the above within 30 days from the date of this correspondence

And, Diana-Armenian's info shows you you aren't the only one to have had this request.
