I'm a single woman 25 years old , from Somalia working in the UAE , who tried to apply to immigrate to Canada as a Skilled Worker ( Teacher ) i was planning to live with my Aunt who is a Canadian Citizen until i find a job there and settle down but unfortunately my points where not enough , i got only 64 points and the reason was because I'm not married and I don't know French , why is it necessary for someone to be married to apply and get all the points for that , i can find a job and settle down and be independent living with my aunt , the points of having a family there is not enough for me ...I'm so disappointed , :(

lol i wish there was a category for talent and get point for that since I'm a really good comic artist :p

any suggestions?

Making 67points is very much within the reach of a single person i.e. education (3 yrs degree) 22points, English Ability 16points, Age (21-49)yrs 10points and Experience (3years or more) 19points these sums up to 67points. For age you are fine. Education, use of English and years of experience are unknown. If you can reveal them, then someone might be in a position to help.

Good to know that u r a comic artist. We surely need few of them here.

There's a requirement of getting 67, it doesn't matter if u r single or married.

Everybody needs 67 points and unless you find yourself a spouse with good education to boost your points, you might just have to better your English to get more points for English, study some French to get points for French, improve your education to get points for education and/or increase your work experience to add points for work experience. It's only 3 points you need. It can't be too hard.

You already get adaptability points for your aunt but if you also get a job offer, you get even more points.

If you are an old stream applicant -- you can take the IELTS any/many times, till the case gets into a conclusive decision.

Marka Horey, if FSW is not forthcoming try the other stream -- there used to an office in Number Afar, which probably now is shut down, but you can still reach them from Mombassa. They have a link for UNHCR thru few Somal Accociations there. Even Al Raas area in Dubai has some -- but u need to check that angle. Some info u can get from your local Dhaabshil.

No, you can not merge the results from two different IELTS exams. You can take IELTS as many times as you want but you have to pick your best one to apply and it can not be more than 1 year old at the time you apply.

Hmm if you only make 64 points, one option would be to learn basic French and take a French test. Your TOTAL language score between your primary choice (in your case, English) and secondary choice (French) can be up to 24 points, of which you'd only need 20 so if you can get 4 points from French you would have 68 points.

I guess you have to decide how much you want to go to Canada, and do you want it enough to learn basic French or try to get a job remotely up front by getting an Arranged Employment Opinion, or moving to Canada first with a temporary permit + Labour Market Opinion.

Either some proven knowledge of French, or a job offer, would give you enough points.

Maha Mi, I sympathize with you, I feel that I am in the same boat! I got 67 total fromself assessement but will know for you once my IELTS is done (test schedule on Dec 4).

I dont have a family / relative in canada and husband thus the point!

Take advantage of you aunt and ask her to find you a job and get an offer! that is the best way as no POF is required also and u will not be subjected to the 1000 cap per NOC.

regards,
