Why Immigration File Number changed?

Dear Friends,

I was facing trouble logging into the ECAS system.

On enquiry I was informed in Mar-2011 that my immigration file number has been changed from B00000000 to E000000000. Why?

I sent my completed application form to the London Office in the month of September 2010 but still my E-CAS showing a single line as appended below:


We received your application for permanent residence on March 22, 2010.

Till todate I am visiting the ECAS and the above message appears.

Please let me know:-
Why my Immigration file number changed?
Why I have not yet recieved 2nd AOR?
What will be the next step from my side?

I think they transferred your application to Ottawa and thus the number change

I changed my opinion, I think their new software systems require this change

Cuz my friends have no change in their Imm. File No.

My case is different.

I have received with my PER the Exxxxxxxx number and my UCI number. (september 2011)
In may 2012 the VO send me a letter requesting the POF and the source for the money, letter which had as subject a Bxxxxxxx number and Exxxxxxx number.

so I do not know why they also assigned me a Bxxxxxxxx number, but at least they are working on the files.
