For me, it was because my name (Arab) was similar enough to another name on a watchlist. I know this because one of the times I asked for GCMS notes, they (mistakenly) attached an email chain with unredacted names of IRCC officers flagging me for fingerprints because of a "possible name match" or some such. It was more info than I've ever seen provided in those notes.

That said, it could also just be a random thing. I'd have to believe there's some kind of black box algorithm that decides who gets an FP request and who doesn't and the officers follow that.

I was a temporary resident, then PR and never given fingerprints before.

I think cz of two status and two SIN, thats why they are requesting fingerprints.

Sorry

I mean if you r not requested finger print when you applied PR

Then most highly chance when you applied citizenship you may will not ask finger print

Thanks

I agree with you. I did fingerprint before my PR application was approved. And now they also asked me for fingerprint during my citizenship application. I believe they have some criteria best known to them; we can only speculate. So long as it removes any confusion about identity and keeps Canada safe, it is all good for everybody.

Did you receive fingerprint result? Does it the same as RCMP Criminal Record that you submitted for your PR before?
