Hi all friends

I found in this forum some applicant requested Finger Print and some of them not

So the question is how CIC decide who require finger print

Or there is some country listed who require

Please share a link if you have experience

Thanks

The fingerprint request comes from CIC if the persons name found in the criminality check. so to distinguish the person they further search with fingerprint to make sure the name came in the criminality check is not the same who applied for PR. hope this clarifies.

I just completed the fingerprint request, and I do not understand why CIC requested it. My last name is uncommon, and I googled my full name, found only myself with the name represented in English alphabets.
It tooked me 4 weeks to complete this request with proof of no criminal records. Does it mean I will receive my PR in a 4-week delay?

there can be multiple person with the same name. so cic first check the criminal database with name. as i mentioned fingerprint is to make sure the person name listed in the criminal record is not the same person applied for PR. if the finger print records also matches then that person will not get the PR

I believe that has to do whether you are having bio-metric passport or not.
While I am not 100% sure that is my guess. Evey time I enter Canada when they scan my passport they know where I work and where i live.
They just ask me are still with this company? That is because I am on TWP.
In bio-metric passport you have your fingerprints, when the scan it they have it in their database so they can more quickly search you.

1. No, most bio metric passports don't contain fingerprints and CBSA's system don't search on fingerprints.
