hello,
I hardly find any post or topic regarding Memorial University (MUN) '16
I am just curious to know Despite of being CHEAPEST university in Canada moreover PR chances are good as it is in remote area why dont people going there?
Is there any hidden factor or ?
Because i have applied for MS CS and i am most likely to be selected and still confused ....
Should i choose it over other university because i am already admitted...

I just wanna know the reason ??

Google, which province has the highest number of unemployment rate, you will get your answer.

hey!

have u been to newfoundland or known somebody there? are you just telling this by just one statistic available on internet? if so then this is very vague reply

please share something if u know about some actual ground scenario about NL.

because google also tells that newfoundland are among top performing province (after alberta and sask), actualy only this 3 are rated A in economic performance...

Further NL has high avg salary (atleast for engineers I have seen on google)

I am sure people on this forum, along with me, are posting to find out actual ground reality about living in NL.

and as fas as unemployment data is considered, I guess it doesn't include international graduates... so its preety much unrelated...

this makes me skeptical about my decision to go for mun, even after I m getting in my choice of course with funding! ???

Any guidance from experienced members on this forum would be highly appreciated!

I am not an experienced member but I would suggest on selecting a course that suits u not the province u can always move after the course again education is more important. where ever u find the right course for u go there

Well this is the reply when i asked the same question to a MUN graduate persuing student:

Hi Amandeep, Yes you got an exact input regarding unemployment rate in Newfoundland is high at the moment...check this link http://www.stats.gov.nl.ca/statistics/Labour/PDF/UnempRate_Monthly.pdf But still if you want to wait for times to turn out good here you can. To my knowledge, Ontario is having work these days and specially IT jobs are more in ON than Newfoundland. Please do your research as much as you can. check these websites indeed, workopolis, monster.ca etc. On an average you can get jobs from 6 months to 1 year or even more in some cases post your graduation. You may have to stick to some part time jobs like working in coffee shops or restaurants or any other part time till you get your IT job. If you want to get any additional support from Newfoundland govt regarding upgrading your skills or some certifications, you can approach to the Department of Advance Education & Skills for Employment Development Program or Skills Development programs . To workout all these details it takes continuous efforts and lot of patience. Prior work experience in India or any other country will be always added advantage. Good luck.

Absolutely correct.
When we first arrived years ago, affordability was a major constraint not jobs.
Some of us ended up in Manitoba and others in Newfoundland.
After graduation we moved to wherever we found work. I have friends who are presently working all over Canada from Nunavut to Ontario.
Go for the affordability and move after graduation for work elsewhere if you can't find one in Newfoundland.

All the best my friend.

Memorial university is a great choice :-

1) Affordable - Cheapest
2) The place - Newfoundland, is the most friendliest and one of the most beautiful place in Canada.
3) One of the oldest running university with a decent job placement.

I personally would choose Memorial university over other similar ranked universities any given day. But, I would not want to move there, simply, because of jobs being scarce, moving towards Saskatchewan or Ontario after graduating from MUN makes more sense.

If I were you I'd choose Memorial, since, nova scotia is not best for getting part time jobs either. But do your own research and make a decision, take my suggestion with a grain of salt.

Hi,

How was your experience at the Memorial university. I am thinking of pursuing Masters of accounting course here.
