why couples are creating separate profile for express entry ?

I have noticed in some thread discussion, some people are giving advice to create separate profile for husband and/or wife.

BTW everyone knows that CIC draw will pick profile with higher rank only. There is no 50 occupation category means all are under one roof.

If CIC set point limit i.e. all above 400 points will have ITA, its okay.
But like i.e top 1500 will have ITA. In this case duplicate and spouse-extra-profile will may also get ITA, which has no use. Worst case may that candidate top 1501 will not have ITA.

So this is just request not to advise separate spouse profile. Submit only that with higher points. And give space to others.

Remember that if your profile is picked, it's not Permanent Residency. It's an Invitation To Apply.

It's entirely possible that there might be issues with one's application. The immigration officer might calculate points differently, not accept proof of funds, or decide to discount periods of work due to disagreement as to which NOC was most appropriate, how to count hours worked, etc.

Having two applications means that one failure does not mean losing Permanent Residency opportunities. Immigration has their targets for how many immigrants they want. If they aren't getting as many as they want, they may increase the number of invitations.

It's unreasonable to ask people to increase their own risk in order to give you better chances, especially when it may not hurt you either way.

Both members have posted contradictory statements. Does anyone know the law on this scenario?
I could not find anything on the CIC website that says if couples can create 2 profiles or not. Keeping in mind that they will declare the other spouse as secondary applicant in both profiles.

We have two profiles! My husband's ECA was done months before mine, so he applied even though his score would be lower and chances would be slim.

I finally got my ECA and applied, and we haven't withdraw his application....

It is fine to have two profiles, its just that any one of you can submit it.

I feel ideally in an immigration system when a couple apply, they should apply with 1 application only and be awarded a single score( removing the primary applicant concept ). But CIC feels, the primary applicant is the bread&butter winner for the family and hence give more emphasis or points to the primary applicant.

In our case, me and my spouse have 2 different EE profiles. I have a better profile with more work ex and a NOC which is likely to have more jobs in Canada. But my spouse EE profile has more CRS points even with less work ex because of a better IELTS score. So on CIC grounds, we might be getting our PR because of my spouse's EE profile and we would be submitting only my spouses's e-APR.

Call this a flaw or blessing in disguise ! :-X

If your spouse is more skilled than you (better language score) does it matter?

Ah i see. I agree with you but also the idea is with having a PA you are encouraged to have your spouse take ielts which in turn increase the change of a better integration on landing.
