Hey,

I was wondering why so many people are interested in immigrating to Canada instead of Australia when the later has an awesome weather and amazing natural beauty.

Please share your views. Thank you.

They came here to see CN tower..LOL.. are you kidding bro, it's up to them :P

Three pros' and cons' I can think of;

(1) Time for getting citizenship: Canada gives citizenship after 4 years, Australia, after 6 years
(2) Immigration Fees: Canada's immigration fees' are less, Australia's immigration fee which go to Govt is 3-4 times higher
(3) (Not sure about this one) Canada has less chance of racism, Australia, perhaps has relatively more chance. (Relatively speaking of-course)

For those like me, who are now forced to immigrate, in order to find work that can sustain me and my family, these don't really matter though.

P.S. Having said that, I understand EE is the worst possible system for foreigners. It looks like more of a publicity stunt for taxpayers in Canada or those who hired the immigration minister or those providing funds to CIC to do their job, rather than something useful.

Just a point on 1 - Australia is also 4 years residency for citizenship not 6. Having lived in both I'd also say they're about equal on your third point.

On the pro-Australian side their immigration system is a lot simpler and doesn't require IELTS for those from English speaking countries, which is a high cost when there's two of you.

I'm coming from the states. There are some advantages in being close to the United States.

For those not from English speaking countries, Australia has a rather rigid policy on how it gives points for language.

One has either to get 7 across the board or 8 across the board to get points. Anything lower than 7 across the board, and one gets no points. Anything not up to 8 across the board and one gets same points as 7 across the board. Its alot of money to pay for one to get their scores right.

Like me, I have L7, R7.5, W6.5, S7. I have to re-pay the whole fee for IELTS one more time, just to jack up my score of 6.5 to 7 or above.

IELTS is more about making money, rather than assessing one's English language skills, when it comes to immigration. Or for anything for that matter. It wasn't a requirement in the past.

A pro' for Australia is;

If US is going to go "out of its mind" to start another war .. this time with Russia, Canada is perhaps going to stand with US. And perhaps get hit by Russia as a result.

Not sure which side Australia is going to be on. or if its going to get hit by that! war. Its a remote part of the planet for most in that sense.

We chose Canada because we wouldn't be able to take all of our pets to Australia whereas we can to Canada, other than that there wasn't a lot in it for us.

Why ask this here? need some kind of bandwagon to make you feel better ? sour grapes syndrome ? You did not get a reject or they did not keep you hanging. The amount of over reaction on this website is stupid. There has been one pick. Chill out and wait.

+1 and the strongest point for Canada is the job opportunities. Once you are a Canadian citizen, your passport literally opens all doors. When you apply for jobs its not in 13 provinces but also in 50 US states. The NAFTA agreement is an amazing thing. Canadian education is a lot more revered compared to Australian.

The racism in Canada is non-existent. Who are they going to be racist against? every 2nd person?

The only negative is the cold, which after a year or two doesnt really hurt so much.

Seeing as your Indian - Australia has much more in common with India vs Canada

Because Canada is the Best.

Moreover, Toronto has been named the best place in the world to live in. I live there and absolutely love it. !!

Having lived in Australia I didn't notice any difference there either, both excellent in that regard.
