Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I am shocked and very upset. I am basically shaking!

I am in the process of gathering all the documents required to apply for my husband. We are currently living in the UK but he is Pakistani. I'm Canadian. We wanted to apply from the UK as I was told it would only take 11 months or so. But we were also considering applying from Pakistan because nowadays the applications are being considered in London Visa Office as well. I was shocked to find out that the processing times for London Visa Office has been changed from 11 months to 29 months. So If I apply from the Uk, it will also take 29 months!

Why are they making it so hard for us!?
What a bummer! I just want my hubby to go to Canada so we can start our lives there.
This is just outrageous! :'(

What makes you think that only the Pakistani applicants out of London will take 29 months?

That is true. The only reason London processing times increased to 29 months is because they took over processing of all Pakistan applicants that were previously done in Islamabad office. 29 months is similar to what Islamabad was before.

It's expected that UK/European residents applying through London will continue to see same times they saw before, in the 8-10 month range or so.

As I understand it, Pakistan applications take a long time due to the greater number of security checks they must go through, and that communication with Pakistan government/police offices is incredibly slow.

It will be 29 months also (on paper) if you apply from Pakistan too. Well we already told you in another forum that 29 months is just an average its maximum 13 to 15 months for Pakistani applicants, and even lesser for UK citizens. Check the time lines

You can't apply through Pakistan (Islamabad) office as it's no longer an option. All family class PR apps for Pakistan applicants go through London now. This is not a choice by the applicant, it's a rule of CIC.

And yes the posted times are not averages, they are more worst case times. There is a thread dedicated to Pakistan applicants through London VO, so good to check that to see people's current actual times.

Sorry if my message was conveyed wrongly, I meant there is no difference in applying from Pak or UK as both go to LVO and both follow same processing time 29 Months (which is just an average).

The processing times are not an average, they are basically a worst case scenario. Only 20% of cases will take longer, the vast majority will take less time.

I would assume the police checks from the British govt would be quicker than the ones done in Pakistan and I would assume their are a ton of security issues applicatants from Pakistan face that most British citizens are excluded from which could delay the processing times. I don't understand the logic behind how cic would purposefully delay applications from one particular nation over another, they have nothing to gain in doing this. The less you're worry the more your mind will be at ease.

I never implied that, I was talking about Pakistanis because when the applications were being processed in Pakistan, the processing times were about 36 months. It was taking forever, we were actually relieved to find out that LVO was now processing Pakistani residents' applications. Only to find out, the LVO processing times have been changed to 29 months (whether it takes that much time or not, whether it applies to 20% or 80% of cases).

Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely check the time line out. As you can see, I was just alarmed by the processing times because I was so happy about the 13-15 months time span.

Countries with long processing times do not always have those long times because the visa officers work slower or they are always overloaded. Often they have those long times because for citizens of some countries it is a long bureaucratic nightmare for CIC to communicate with and get all the necessary background and security checks required for applicants. So really citizens of Pakistan will see much longer processing times vs other people no matter which office in the world they are processed at.

Suleman, who is the owner of this repot, is it being generated from the data we use to enter on this portal or is it publish by cic?

If ure Canadian... u would have to submit ur application in Canada and u would also have to explain that u plan on coming back to Canada once ur application is processed... I've heard things have improved since London started processing Pakistani applications... so don't b depressed by that 29 months.... just start filling out all the forms and collecting all the supporting evidence from now.....

Since ur already in UK why not consider settling there instead of Canada..... i'm sure it will be much quicker and a lot less headache than applying for Canada
