I am just wondering why does post-June 26 applicants receiving their Medical Request quicker than pre-June applicants at the same VO? i have 2 friends who applied at the same VO-Manila, One is is a pre and the other is a post-June. However, the post- June applicant received his MR already while the pre-June is still waiting..and its not an isolated case, its preety common...any significant reason for this?

pls note: i don't have anything against post-june applicants, i am just confused of the process.

Yes the NOC is in demand, but also CIC improved the process, which is proving to be faster.

Post-June-26 applicants have to gather all their supporting documents before they apply, but this allows them to skip the 120 day phases and eligibility review at visa office, since CIO now do the final eligibility review, so when they get to the visa office they go straight to background/security/medicals.

I still don't understand why pre-June-26 applicants are disappointed/jealous because CIC managed to make the process faster. There's no way you could improve your process without going back in time and collect all your supporting documents before you applied.

They are not jealous wayne :) but worried. Well I think this PER is more or less same as 1st AOR. I also think CHC still checks the final determination even after you get PER.

do you think background checks for post 26/6 are done at CIO or local visa office??

Background checks (which include things like employer verification) are definitely done at local visa office. We know this because some post-June-26 have had their employers contacts by the local visa office.

CIO in their positive determination of eligibility very explicitly phrase it "final determination" and this differs from the previous 1st AOR for pre-June-26 which reads "initial determination". If CHC do any checking it is probably only to ensure that CIO have not made a blatent, categorical mistake. I don't think they would contradict CIO's decision purely on opinion.

I think the big delay at visa offices, especially ones like London, is the queue for full eligibility review. People wait a long time to get 2nd AORs, and then once in process wait a long time in the eligibility review queue. Since post-June-26 applicants go straight to background checks, the queue here IMO is much shorter, hence the improved process of skipping some stages at visa office is proving quicker.

However, in my view the fact that some post-June-26 applications have been sitting at CHC London for over 2 months indicates that they are not getting "priority" as such. IMO London were processing pre-June-26 applications at that time which had already reached the background/medicals stage.

Of course, this is just my opinion and guesswork! But at least I hope it is educated guesswork ;)

Hi Wayne!

One of my friend who is post 26/6 has his backgorund checks done at CIO. He told me before even receiving his PER his employer received a call to verify his job. He himslef was surprised and I too. Thats why I aksed if background checks are taking place at CIO. What do you make of it?

Pitta, my friend, that makes no sense ??? ! Why will the CIO perform verification checks?

The only way this could've happened is that the CIO transferred the file to the VO earlier than communicated to your friend an they started performing the same.

Still, if he says so, must be so. Strange all the same! :)

Can I ask which country your friend is currently working in? I am certainly surprised to hear CIO doing any employment verification. If in Canada or US, then I can see that *maybe* CIO would do a small random spotcheck as a deterrent.

But IMO the main background checks which include employment verification, in the vast majority of cases, will be performed by the visa office.

Yes you can for sure. He is living in Pakistan and call was made to his old employer and his employer told him later that some body enquired about him...

So tired today, right now I really want to have a cup of Cappuccino :)
