I have received a request for additional information from LVO...

I live in Canada (citizen) and my wife in Pakistan. LVO has asked for proof of rukhsati as we mentioned in our application that it was done. I can provide it to some extent (photos of Quran over her head, walking out with family, no crying - she isn't really leaving her family yet due to immigration rules, us going to hotel, taking a trip to stay with my relatives in another city a few days later, etc). IMO that should be sufficient...?

I have read many threads stating that rukhsati is required but the whole concept of a rukhsati requirement is not making sense to me. A Canadian sponsor (citizen) who lives and is employed in Canada can not formally take his wife to complete a traditional rukhsati. A temporary one is possible (simply to show CIC) but at the end of the day it's immigration/visitor visa restrictions that are preventing this. I think an appeal should be put together that this requirement be eliminated, it's not a requirement of a nikkah/legal marriage, and the couple will obviously want to move in together as soon as they can...the fact that it's widely practiced culturally should not make it a requirement.

LVO has also asked for co-habitation proof though we clearly had stated in the application that we have only stayed together while I was there on my short trips...again another concept being questioned that doesn't apply in the case of a Canadian citizen who has to return to Canada for their job/family and the applicant being stuck in their native country due to immigration/visitor visa rules
