Yes, they have been accepted with their refugee status. They were asylum seekers. They're already more familiar with Germany and German language/culture and have no interest in moving to Canada.
I thought as much because it is almost impossible to simply *move* to Germany without having specialist technical or research skills.

Unfortunately, that's not the way the visa officer will see their applications.

It would have been different if they have German PR status since a few years.... close to being granted German citizenship.... along with well established ties. Your parents have none of these

It's your call

You must inform the visa office if there's a change in the address while the application is being processed. It won't matter after a decision is given

Seeing grandkids is one thing that makes sense on one level, but because so many people have come to Canada as visitors and ended up taking care of babies for their families - which is illegal work without a work permit - it is now a red flag. Canada more or less expects you to take your baby to see their grandparents.

Grandparents assisting with childcare is encouraged.

Read the executive summary available via the link above.

"Their assistance with household tasks and childcare are seen among the most important contributions and also constitute the main (indirect) economic benefits, as it allows hosts, especially immigrant women, to seek or increase employment or education to improve economic outcomes."

Visiting, foreign grandparents assisting with childcare is encouraged. I don't know why people spread these theories that lack humanity, go against human nature, community and valuing support over autonomy, struggle and individualism. I've seen this "illegal work" comparison used all over this site within the context of visitor grandparents.

Grandparents being grandparents is not gainful employment. It is a village.

Why are you responding to a thread from 2019.

Because people search for topics on here and derive information from what is said. If it's incorrect, it needs updating / rebuttal.

Why do you ask?
Because the post was about writing an invitation letter from 2018 and much has changed in 7 years. Just posting on old posts that are no longer relevant.

To me, it is important as this came up in another forum from 2025. Where are people getting the same points of view from? Sounded regurgitated from another thread so I wanted to come back to it.

Thank you for the audit.
