Online PR sponsorship pushed back with dreaded "Not provided for: Dependent children of the Principal Applicant that are 18 years
of age and older, whether accompanying or not".
Want to double-check before I resubmit.
Scenario:
Husband (me) is Canadian citizen who has lived in USA for 20+ years and is returning. My wife is American citizen so I am sponsoring her.
I have two kids from prior marriage (also to an American). Both are dual US/Canadian; have Canadian passports and citizenship certs, but have never lived in Canada.
Canadian Kid A is 18, and coming with us. Canadian Kid E is 21 and not coming with us.
Wife has two kids from prior marriage. Both US citizens. American Kid N is 18, and coming with us, so being sponsored as well. American Kid K is 25 and not coming with us (and too old to be considered a dependent if I understand correctly).
None of the kids are married, none have their own kids. So in summary:
Forms as submitted (and pushed back):
IMM0008 (Generic App): My wife only listed American Kid N (18) who is coming with us. Didn't list her step-kids (my Canadian kids), or her 25-year old. The response from CIC didn't say there were any problems with this form. I'm a bit paranoid if she should be listing other kids here despite that? At least the 2 step-kids who are under 22 (but are both US-born dual citizens).
5406 (Additional Family Members):
My wife's form, under Section B Children, she listed Kid N (American, 18, coming with us) and Kid K (American 25, not coming with us). She didn't list her step children (my kids, 18 and 21, both Canadian). I think that was the first problem, and they need to be listed here?
Also did a 5406 for Kid N (American, 18, coming with us). She listed all 3 siblings.
5669 (Background / Declaration):
Filled out a copy for:
Final bonus questions, if anybody has read this far.
We are about to move to Canada (in 9 days!). Given the outbound application was pushed back requesting more info, should we cancel this application, wait until wee are in Canada, then make an inbound app so we can also apply for an open-work-permit for wife and her daughter? Getting them the right to work is highest priority, even if it slows down the final PR approval.
Bonus-bonus question: Do we need to provide documentation on the 25-year old (American) who isn't coming with us? Police report, birth certificate, etc.?
Whew! Will be chatting with an immigration consultant to check all of this.
