Never give up
“When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” - Harriet Beecher Stowe

hi guys 5 months back i thought of going abroad to continue my studies i have finished my 12th standard in 2005 i have 9 years gap but have been working for this past 9 years
but confused which country to select after lot of search finally i decided Canada. Next thing i did was contacting consultants i have contacted Canam Edwise Chopras every one said i cant get visa as have long gap( regarding gap nothing mentioned in cic website) finally oceanic consultants helped me to take my case to next step after that i came to know about this site this is where i got lot of confidence after reading lot of posts.

In every stage i came across different hurdles i don't want to take loan some people said its mandatory to take loan and as i don't have enough time for preparations i didn't maintained bank balance only thing i did was paid college fee and gic my consultants told me that i have to show bank balance but i went through spp checklist thoroughly and mentioned for spp college fee and gic is sufficient at one point of time i thought if giving up for this fall and maintain bank balance and want to apply for next intake, but meagan99 ramandeep i want to thanks this guys bcoz they are one who replied to my posts and told to apply with what ever funds i have.

when every thing is going fine and about to apply for visa with in 2days, my consultants told me they shutting down the office and i have continue my process from chandigarh(head office) as i have applied from south india then i thought of applying for my self, finally applied on 14th july to my surprise i got visa less tahn 2 weeks.

i finally want to say if your genuine student then your 50% through remaining 50% depends on luck

p.s : take help from consultants but they are not cent percent correct, what ever mentioned in cic website just go through with that

wish you all the best guys my pp dispatched today going to collect it on monday

Yet to decide
Well done, sri650. Regarding the gap, yes, there is NOTHING mentioned on the CIC website. And, if there was really such a 'GAP' issue, why would CIC provide fields/sections for filling in spouse/children's details? And why would CIC even have a dependent spouse visa work permit? And why would CIC even have provisions for enrolling the student's children in school?

I would advise anybody who is reading this post: The consultants have no fricking idea about the study permit requirements (most of them hardly stay a year in this job as consultant). And we Indians in general have this mindset that if you are married or have kids or it's been more than 5 or 6 years since your graduation, then you are not a student (I guess you become an "uncle" or "aunty" as per the Indian logic). To the Canadians (and rest of the developed world), a student simply means "one who is studying." As simple as that.
