I just peeked in the guide- as I was curious what it said and it says:

If any of the documents required in the checklist at Appendix A are not sent with your forms, the application will be returned to your sponsor, who will have to obtain the missing documents and re-send the complete application with all proper documentation.

In other words, we have no choice but to wait.

Sounds like it. It is item #10 on Appendix A

But - they do say "If you are unable to supply any required documents or information, please enclose a detailed explanation." So that almost leads me to think it'd be fine if you wrote it wasn't RCV'd back yet and will follow.

As far as the lead times. It seems that around the Christmas holidays, the FBI must have took several weeks off, and then it took several weeks to catch up with the backlog. Hench a 13 week wait. However in the past several months that wait time as reported by members here has been 7-9 weeks.

I am really hoping this is true, means we should be getting ours in the next 3 weeks or so. *crosses fingers and toes*

Mine as well. I could handle waiting 2 more weeks past my medical if i thought it'd help on the backend.... but 9 more weeks. Blech!

Not sure but looks like the FBI site was updated. Plus found this little note at the bottom:

"Note: Although the FBI employs the most efficient methods for processing these requests, processing times may take up to 12 weeks depending on the volume of requests received."

Can't seem to find the page where it said 13 weeks at the top.

*keeping fingers crossed*

I certainly hope mine comes back real soon. The waiting is unreal.

Just called the FBI at 304-625-5590 and the gentleman I spoke with was hard fast on the 12 week processing time and there are NO EXCEPTIONS. They are not expiditing no matter what the reason might be and what date you are requesting is plastered on it.

But he did say after about 9 weeks the name should be in the system at least and could call back then to make sure it was received.

Re: who else is waiting for FBI certificate? (update)

update: After 7 weeks and 3 days waiting my pringerprints got rejected. :'( The quality of characteristics is too low to be used. (Determined by the FBI's Automated Fingerprint Identification System)

They enclosed another form for me to get it done and send again. The fee is waived next time.

Obviously I am bummed out about this since I will have to send the PR application without FBI certificate. I had 2 additional prints that were sent out almost 2 weeks ago so hopefully one of those prints will come out fine.

My total time from the prints arriving to FBI til money order cashed was 7weeks and the rejection letter came 3 days after the check got cashed. I must say total waiting time of 7wks 3 days isn't too bad but wish they didn't reject the prints!! grrr
For those who are waiting for FBI certifcates let us know how things turn out! I hope you guys will be the lucky ones that have no problems.

I will be doing the 'retake' since the fee is waived anyway..and hopefully one of those will be accepted someday! Best wishes!

That stinks. The same thing happened to me in March. Except mine took over 13 weeks to process. I cried. :'( It's now been over six months since I sent my first set of prints. I had no clue this would be so difficult. The stress of NOT being able to legally work has cause me to separate from my new Canadian wife. She thinks I should just be able to get a job.

Who did the prints? I hope you didn't have the same people do them. I had mine redone by the local city Ontario police (1st and 2nd time) and could tell they were inferior quality. The second time went to Toronto and paid a professional fingerprinting service that has experience with doing prints for the FBI.

As far as you PR application, I would go ahead and send it in with the full explanation.

Ugh...so sorry to hear that.

We are still waiting on ours. I am not very patient (so my hubby says) and ask him daily if it has arrived, hehe.

Sogwap,
The tech from State police did my prints. He did say there that my prints were poor cuz my fingerprints seemed worn out. Its weird because when I went back for the 2nd and 3rd round (I sent those off almost 1 1/2 week ago) he said those prints were fine. ??? I am calling the other (private) fingerprinting company that would do LiveScan to see if they can scan my fingers and print them out onto the paper. If not I just have to get it done the old fashion way.

Did you receive your certifice yet? I know you were waiting for one for a while..have you sent of your PR application as well? I have 2 more certificates that will expire in July and I don't want to do them all over again.

my heart sank when I saw a big orange envelope in my mail box. I was very upbeat til then..but I am goin keep trying til we get it done! At least I have other two are at the FBI waiting to be processed.

omg...michaelab...so sorry to hear what happened to your prints! we found a professional fp place in toronto which seems to know what they are doing and our prints came out fine.

Maybe you can write "2nd request" on the outside of your envelop when you send it in again. It might help them to speed up your process a bit! And try to send 2-3 sets of prints to them in case they cannot read it.

I have my fingers crossed for you that those ones are good.

Livescan is definitely what we will be doing next if his current ones do not go through.

I am hopeful that it only took just over 7 weeks to get something back. We are at 4.5 weeks right now, so little bit longer to go before realistically we would see anything.

I really want to send our application in without them, but am so scared too at the same time, don't want to hold anything up, yet the FBI is holding it up...argh! Frusrtating.
