Who else is waiting for FBI certificate? I have been checking on the money order status and it has not been cleared yet. I have sent 2 additional prints just in case if the first one doesn't work. Its going to be 6 weeks on Monday. I am tired of not knowing what is going to happen. If you are waiting for it to come as well please share when you sent it and how long it has been..and if its the first time or second time..and how long it has taken before it got rejected.

The first time we setn for our FBI Clearance, we sent two separate sets of prints, both were deemed too poor quality to be used.
It took 3 months to get our rejection back... and they do charge you.

yikes! 2 got rejected? I wished I had sent off my 2nd and 3rd ones sooner.

So your 2nd time around was okay right? (hope!) Did you send 2 separate sets of prints as well? How long did the 2nd time take?

This was my experience as well, exactly. Except I sent only one set of prints the first time. The second time (April 2009) I went to Toronto and paid a professional fingerprinting service that regularly sends prints to the FBI for immigration purposes.

However in my case it may not matter.... I gave up everything to come here to Canada get married and be with my wife, howbeit now 9 months without a job. Today my new Canadian wife said that she is not sure she wants to sponsor me and take the responsibility to take care of me for the next three years. :-[ :-\ :'(

aww sogwap I wish your wife sees that this is not your intention to get her to support you. You are not doing this to just get a status or get something out of it..you are doing this cuz you love her and want to be with her. Its clear even to us that you want to work and you are doing everything you can to find something you can to support/contribute to the finance. I remember you wrote tha you spent 10k already to pay for your expenses..why she thinks you are going to rely on her to support you? Maybe telling her that even on the paper she has to guarantee to support you when you are in need but it won't happen since you will not let that happen. Would she rather you be in the States and making money now and in the future and not being together? I could be wrong but sounds like she thinks you are just mooching off her but I know its not true. This a part of the immigration process we are dealing with and she needs to understand that. There is no easy and fast fix to that but to wait and work towards it. Best wishes and hopefully things will improve for you guys.

Don't get too discouraged! My husband's FBI clearance took 8 weeks to get here. We got his prints done at a pro fingerprinting place in Toronto. Keep positive!

I mailed mine out in November 2009 and received in the mail in February 2010!!!! You can always check the status by calling the number if u live in the US.

The best number to call for the FBI is 1-304-625-2000 so you can call from anywhere in the world!

Im new to this forum but like all the tips. I just sent my FBI app in on May 28th. I do not know if I need state clearance yet. Should I get them anyways, before they ask?

I am getting one (well I have one already). I am glad I have one because the state I am in doesn't use the standard fingerprinting forms (like FBI uses). It has its own forms and I think its going to be a hassle to obtain it if I were to visit Canada while PR in process. I don't know if anyone from the States was ever asked to present one. Anyone?

We are just getting started on this... I am sponsoring my husband and his son. He is going to the RCMP office tomorrow to get the finger printing done for the FBI form. He has lived in 3 different states (Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas). How do you know if you need state clearance?

michaelab - We sent our 2nd request on around 4/13 and they have just charged our CC on 6/3. We received our first request around 5/17 after the fingerprints were received by them around 3/22. We sent a 2nd set of print anywayz in mid-april just to be on the safe side since we have seen quite a few people on the forum saying that their prints could not be read. They should be cashing your $$ order soon. Don't worry!

CIC will contact you if they need one from the state..as for me I am doing mine now just in case so I won't have to wait to do it. (although, for many, the state check only took a couple of weeks)

I see so much about FBI certificates on this forum... Do you only need to submit one if you have lived in the USA? They requested an RCMP check for my husband. Anyone else have to do one of those?

Are people using the term FBI for the RCMP check? Just a tad confused...
