Hi everyone .. So it's not clear to me, if you're applying for a Study Permit, do you only need to submit a police certificate for the country where you're currently residing (which is also my country of citizenship), OR do you need to give a police certificate for every country where you've lived for 6 months or more since turning 18 ? The CIC website isn't fully clear on this.

I want to go to Canada for studies this fall, however I've previously lived in the US for two years. Now I'm trying to figure out if I only need to provide a police certificate from my own country (Pakistan), or one also from the US ?

I think that in fact CIC is very clear in that matter...

Read This:

Who needs a police certificate?

In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate. You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18. (For example, if you lived in a country for eight months but left on a two-week vacation, that counts as living there for eight months.)

For the country you currently live in, the police certificate must be issued no more than six months before you apply.

For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country
.

If your certificate is in a language other than English or French, send it when you apply, along with the original copy of a translation done by a certified translator.

So yes you need police certificate for every place you have lived (for at least 6 months) after you turned 18 years old.

Use this link to find out how to get a police certificate from any country:

Just to let you know. I lived in Canada for almost a year when I was 18-19 years old.... But i didnt submit any police certificate from Canada when applied for my study permit . I am presently 25 years old.

So if you cant get a police certificate from the US it might not be an issue, good luck

You need to provide police certificate from USA as well as from Pakistan

if you have citizenship of Pakistan and US both then you will require police certificate of both countries.... but as you have said that you were in US for two years and it shows you are not citizen of that country then you dont need police certificate of US.... thats what I think...rest you can ask from VFS
