The name in the passport is the one that counts. You put your maiden name under "Have you ever used any other name...."

Why don't you change your name and your identity/travel documents and then apply? I would think that's the more logical way to do it

That's what I wanna do silly I was just wondering when I do get my passport changed if I should hen change what I wrote on my application (before I send it in naturally)

Well, silly, say you are now named Smith and will change your name to Jones before applying. That means that, at the time that you will be officially applying, all your documents will be under the name of Jones. So why would you say in your application that your name is Smith? ;D

Betina is correct - the name in the passport is the name you need to put on your application.

In my wife's case, we submitted the application in her maiden name because she hadn't yet updated her passport at the time. Afterwards she updated her passport with her married name. We then scanned it and e-mailed it to CIC to let them know.

On the spouse questionnaire question 4.. Is your relationship known to your close friends and family?
Do I need to list everyone* whom my relationship is known to? Just thinking its aloottt of people... Or should I just put who I'm close to that knows about it?

Also... My husband has never met my friends in person.. My family neither.. They did meet on FaceTime and have chatted on the phone every now and again just wondering if that counts as "meeting" cause it doesn't specify "in person" in the question...

Isn't that question about "the relationship know to... "with a "yes" or "no" answer, asking for details only in case of a "no"? (When you have a question about something in a form, write its number - IMxxxx - it's easier to locate )

I don't think that meeting on the phone is what CIC has in mind But you can explain, on a separate sheet of paper, why they never met in person and about their chats through the phone.

When it comes to dates, if you have to write them on a separate paper , I guess you could ballpark them - something like "march 2011 - by phone" should do it. But if your family and closest friends haven't met your spouse in person, be sure to explain in detail why.

I think there's the place where you can find better answers about specific questions (I applied outland, so I had different forms and even my questions were a bit different than what I see in your forms).
