Which types of jobs can be found easily in Canada?

Minimum wage positions often require very little technical skills, similiar to the positions listed above. While it's always important to find work as quickly as possible, be careful not to jump (and settle) for a position too quickly. Depending on your background and experience , yes, it may take a few months to land you a great job, but it may be worth it. This is a decision each person will have to individually assess.

The possible negative of taking a non-related minimal paying job too quickly is that when you try and apply for a position back in your field at a intermediate level you may have more problems, then if you'd stuck it out a few months in the beginning.

If you have good qualifications, sometimes employers offering low paying positions are reluctant to hire you because they believe that you'll be unhappy and won't stay there. If you are applying for low-skilled jobs, you may actually need to downplay your qualifications on your resume. Just as you do not have to show every job you have held in a resume, highlighting your PhD in ancient languages will probably be a liability if you're applying for a job as a dishwasher.

Service jobs are always advertised, but remember in Canada the 'hidden job market' is where most positions are. Just because you don't see a job online or in the paper doesn't mean it's not there. Many companies will use word of mouth, or 'unadvertised' methods to recruit (and save on recruiters fees, or print advertising fees).

So remember networking is the cornerstone to job searching in Canada.
