My partner is applying for a study permit for one year to Canada and I will be accompanying him. We are applying from Ireland and the visa office is the London, UK one. I would like to know if anyone knows which form I should be submitting with the application to be granted the open work permit?
I have done a search and have found some information for the office in France but nothing for the UK one.
The France one says to submit the normal work permit form together with the student permit application and indicate in the box where it says 'Employer in Canada': Spouse of Student, then it is considered as an open work permit (which does not require an employer in Canada).
But does anyone know whether this applies to the UK office as well? Can I submit a work permit form together with the student permit application?
Or else do you recommend that I apply for this open work permit once we are in Canada? And if this is better, which forms should I send then?
Thank you for your help. I have been searching for anything similar to my case but haven't found anything...so any experience or knowledge on this will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
