I'm sponsoring my wife. I've got the email saying "Ready for Visa". Now I need to mail the passports.

The problem is that I live in Canada whereas my wife lives in China. I was originally asked in the email to mail it to Ottawa office. But it reads that:
"If you or any of your accompanying family members are outside Canada or the United States, please disregard the following instructions and contact CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca so that we can make arrangements to issue the documents at a local visa office."

To double check, I checked with them about how to handle this situation. They sent me another email that asks me to mail to Beijing office.
However, it asks for passports of all applicants which is so confusing....

I mean, what's the difference of mailing everything to Ottawa or Beijing? The point is that it's not good to mail the passports across countries. So they should've arranged it separately.
But they did not do anything different other than changing the office to another country...

Does anyone have similar issues before? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

i received a similar email yesterday,,the difference in our case is that I live in the US(sponsored husband) and I am currently in Canada visiting my wife..

I sent my actual passport to Ottawa because that is what they asked,,,if your wife had been here I guess She would had sent it too to Ottawa,,,since she is in China she has to send the actual passport to the canadian embassy so they can affix the visa on the passport(since she is not a visa exempt citizen)

Is it just your wife you're sponsoring?

If she's in China it would make sense for her to send her passport to Beijing.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm only sponsoring my wife. It makes sense for her to send her passport to Beijing, but the email also mentioned that I should be sending my passport to Beijing too, which did not make sense to me(highlighted below):

"If you are a citizen of a country that is required to obtain a visa to visit Canada, please follow the instructions below regarding your passport requirements:
· Submit your original passport and the original passport of your accompanying spouse and dependent children to the Beijing VAC. Passports for you and your accompanying spouse and dependent children (if applicable) must be submitted together."

I don't understand that. My husband is my sponsor and he doesn't have to send his passport anywhere.

I'm not Canadian. That might be the difference. I'm applying for PR from within Canada.

Thank you for your reply. Good for you that you happen to be visiting Canada :) But even if you are in US, you can still send to Ottawa I guess.

From what I can understand now, it's much easier for me to ask my wife to mail her passport to me and we'll be sending documents together to Ottawa... It just doesn't quite make sense for me to mail my passport to her which will be processed by Ottawa office anyway...

Too bad that emailing CIC often takes too long to get feedback...

Are you a Canadian PR sponsoring your spouse? If so, you do not need to send your passport, as for the purposes of that letter, you are the sponsor, not the spouse.
If you are not a PR, then you are posting in the wrong section and should find the one related to the immigration stream that you are applying under.

Thanks for pointing out that. I'm not a PR. I am applying under CEC myself and sponsoring my wife under the same application. I'll make another post to CEC section. Thanks!

I have applied for PR through PNP(Ontario) and received passport request for stamping visa saying "Ready for Visa".I am in Canada so I sent my passport to Ottawa already but my family is in Pakistan. On email it says that if you or your family member are outside of Canada then sent an email for instructions on IRCC.CIO-BRCD.IRCC@cic.gc.ca.Now its been more than 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything from them.I called CIC helpdesk and agent told me to send email on CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca.Still waiting for last 1 week for their reply.

I know that we have to send the passport to VFS global but still I am waiting for the instructions from CIC. The deadline is to submit the passport within 30 days, now I am afraid as deadline is ending soon so are they going to accept my family member passports after it or no?

Post in the PNP section of the forum. This section is for Canadian citizens and PRs sponsoring family members.
