I received my PPR 2 days ago which requests that I send 2 passport photos along with my passport as well. However now there are new photo requirements and they're asking me to send them 50mm x 70mm sized passport photos. I called a few passport photo generation shops here in the US (FedEx, UPS) and they said they only support 2" x 2" size passport photos.

So where am I supposed to get 50mm x 70mm sized photos taken from ? New ideas ?

CIC keeps throwing obstacles at you like it's a game ???

Try Costco or Walmart.

Walgreens should be able to help you out.

congratulations on PPR , how long did it take between AOR and PPR ?

you have two options , you create your own photo , use program like Passport photo , just take a clear shot by camera and upload to the program , it will then create for you a card with 3 or 4 photos according to Canadian standards , you then print this standard 4*6 card in CVS and cut it

The other option is keep searching for studio that support Canadain standards , like this if you live in MA

About 6-7 months.

I don't want to create the photo myself as that's against CIC's rules, which leaves the option to go to a commercial photographer, and I don't know any of those in Providence, RI, where I am.

My local CVS has this facility however knowing from past experience, their camera is extremely shitty (it's a simply 5 year old point and shoot camera) and I want to avoid them.

I don't have a Costco nearby so that leaves me with just Walgreens and Walmart. Do any of these have a professional equipment for taking passport photos (like a proper white backscreen, lighting, SLR camera and a nice printer), or just shitty stuff again ?

I got mine done from Walgreens. They did use a point and click, but the picture I got came out extremely nice, and I used it for my application without issues, so I recommend giving them a try.

I note that you even need to include the name and address of the commercial photographer http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5445EB-e.pdf In UK people have been used to using photo booths that are cheap but perfectly good for a passport photo but obviously not good enough for CIC requiring a commercial photographer. Also being picky but a photo might start as digital when taken and on SD card but once printed ,labelled on back with required details and then scanned again it will not necessarily be same digital quality as the original. Then again I guess if a paper application not something to worry about.

Oh shit, I guess I could have gone there .. I went to Walgreens earlier today and go it done from there .. Their software was good because it already knew the specs for Canadian passport photos .. The problem was their "studio" wasn't lighted up properly which created a bit of a shadow behind my head .. We tried playing around with the brightness to remove as much as possible but there was some still left over .. I hope they're accepted by CIC :/

Hi All ,

Need Help.

I finished my PR Landing Formalities in March 2016 and came back to US.I gave my Friend's canada address for PR Cards.

I riceved a letter from CIC to send PR Photos as per new Specifications. This letter was sent to my Friend's canada address and he then sent to me.

As per the new photos specifications : On the back side of the photo it should have "Date, name and address of Photogroph studio".

Question : If i get the photos taken in US the the Photos ( on the back side of It) will have the US Address.

Will it be an issue ? Will CIC thinks that the Candidate is out of Canada ?

Please guide and share your experience.

Thanks in advance.

Every Walgreens does that. Its just that they dont know about the options available in their software. On the top right they have a dropdown for countries(by default its US) ask them to select canada over there. Since its a larger size photo when compared to the US size you need to take pic covering upto your waist so that it can fit in that size (had a hard time adjusting its size.
