Hi all. After ? 16 months, our great news is, my wife passed her interview, her medicals were re-done and are at visa office. Everything ready for her passport and visa to be sent to her BUT,,a lady at the embassy told her Canada's quota for Colombia may be filled? So, ? any idea where I can look to see if this is true? I have to plan my holidays. She may receive her visa next week, or we may have to wait til new year? Thanx again for any help. This may open up a new thread for people about Canada's quota system, God bless

There is no quota for spousal sponsorships that I have ever heard of...

Thanx Karls., that would make sense, strange that a lady at the embassy would bring it up. My son's fiance is studying Canadian immigration. She mentioned something about a quota system, but was not sure if that was in the past or present. Maybe there is a present "quota" system of sorts for skilled labour etc. especially in light of high un-employment. I would appreciate any more light on this. Hopefully very soon I will see my wife with a glass of champagne=VISA,

As Karlshammer stated there is no quota on spousal applicants, but there is a quota on skilled workers and parents and grandparents.

16 months?? did you guys have problems with documents and everything....

maybe look on google?

Not really Bogota is the embassy with one of the longest processing time if you check it at cic is between 10 to 18 months for the approval.. in fact when your file is received at the embassy the send you a letter stating that you shouldn´t contact the embassy for 10 months.... i have heard of cases that have been proccessed on 18 months (a friend of mine)... but right now it looks like the embassy is trying to correct their times and i can see shorter times.. if you need more info or want to see by yourself check trackitt they have a pretty good time line....

i am waiting to be processed through Bogota too..... 7 months already and no info or request from the embassy
