It will take couple of months before CIC charge on your CC. That's why, they requested that the credit card must be valid for at least nine months from the date of submission of the application.

Someone posted on another thread that he saw his credit card charged to his account. This pretty much confirmed that his application was completed and accepted.

I can confirm CIC took $1100 today for my application today :D
Can we track this on the spreadsheet, a list of people who have had money debited?

my application reached on jan.9th, but my card was charged on jan.6th. i payed the fee on jan3rd. Smiley

Correct me if Im wrong but my understanding was that you could not make the payment "online" using a CC but had to fill out the payment form and include your CC information for CIC to process the payment directly, or do a certified cheque.

It was mandatory to include the following form. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5770E.PDF and on which form it stated that "This form must accompany your sponsorship application."

Has anybody had their credit card charged?

Yes! My credit card has been charged $1,100 (sponsoring both my parents) on Jan 13. I sent my application on 31 Dec and it was received 02 Jan 9am. Per the instructions I completed form IMM 5770E, sent in with my application that contained my credit card details.

I do hope this is a good sign that the processing time for the new wave of applications under the tougher new 2014 requirements will be quicker than the old system.

And one also assumes that the charge to the credit card is an accurate reflection that we have passed the first hurdle of not only making the 5,000 cap but also completed and submitted all the required documents accurately.

Once again, thanks for an awesome forum and best of luck to all of you.

Note to moderator: Any chance you can update the Google Spreadsheet to track payment status? Would be kinda cool to know.

I'm now confused. Do we have to pay online? I also just sent the payment form for authorization to credit.

You are correct Gabrielle, you were required to send a payment form. Some of these forms have now been processed

that was too what I was thinking.

So i am confused as to what happens now with those who payed online and just attached receipts and not the payment form.

It should not be an issue, they have the money! I doubt they would return your forms for paying online instead of submitting a payment form.

Hi joms,

CIC clearly stated they do not accept online payment for the new pgp program as of January 2,2014. Only payments made by credit card or cash draft made to the general receiver of canada, of course they are referring to the payment made with the form.
And if you read in the guide they have supplied the payment form to replace the online payment. On that form you have the option to input your credit card info or the draft info.
I am really not sure if they would return application because of an online payment though, but chances are they would since they had clearly stated they do not accept online payments.
