Reached on 9th January 3.20 pm. I might or might not make the 5000 cap.

I could have submitted by 3rd of January had the UPS didn't lose my package. My parents are in Sri Lanka, I emailed them the forms and they printed, signed and handed over to UPS which should have arrived in Canada by 5am on the 3rd. But it stopped at Louisville, KY and never moved.

Called UPS and they said weather, customs and all excuses and said Monday I will get it, but on Monday they gave a EXCEPTION status and initiated a lost package inquiry. Customer service was crap.

Then I didn't want to wait and my parents sent another copy via DHL and I picked it from Hamilton depot by 9 am on the the 9th and sent it by same day courier.

Thanks to UPS, my dream of having my parents with me may get dragged by a year or more. But, I wanted a honest application and I did what I felt is right.

Good luck everyone, and I don't mind if 5000 genuine people get in and I miss since all want there parents with them as much as I do, but I will be disappointed if someone who faked the signature get in.

Sorry to hear about your situation... hope for the best.

Thanks for the timeline, I have updated the spreadsheet.

Parent sponsorship application sent by Fedex on Jan 3, 2014. Delivered CIC on January 6, 2014. Anyone knows when to expect acknowledgement from CIC. Thanks.

People who used Canada post service to deliver their application. Do you see signature of the person who received? When I check my tracking page it says delivered but no signature.
Thanks

I sent our application today - will reach Mississauga by tomorrow, January 14 by UPS courier. Hopefully I still make the cut!

From what I hear they are all sitting in a room at the moment (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/some-insights-related-to-the-current-threshold-of-2014-parents-sponsorship-apps-t180756.0.html)

@ mastersonicdog, See link above for some insight, looks like you are still safe for the 5000 cut off

Did you pay $1.50 for signature option? If not, you wouldn't see signature. Canada Post usually upload signature at the end of delivery date.

Hi guys,

Still in the process of collating requirements and praying to be able to include my timeline soon. ;D

I have a question about the type of dependent my sister is supposed to fall under. Here are the facts about her:

Under the age of 22 but turning 22 March of this year :o (Type A)

Have attended school since under the age of 22 but have stopped one semester in 2011 (Type B)

Will CIC count it against the "continuously studying" clause if she stopped a semester?

Help please.

Note: Dependent children must meet the above requirements from the day the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga (CPC-M) receives a complete application until the day the visas are issued. Whether or not they have attained the age of 22, children falling under type A must not be married or be involved in a common-law relationship at the time of visa issuance and when they enter Canada.

For dependents under student condition, I believe she must maintain full time status during duration of application. At anytime CIC may ask to see updated records of education history.

I thought dependents falling under class A (under 22) are locked in for length of processing based on age alone, so in this case she wouldn't even care about studying or not. I assume this is the same for PGP apps, as it is for spousal.

Just a reference for those wondering if they made the cap. Look for the actual charge on your credit cards. If CIC has accepted a charge on your credit card, it would mean they accepted your application and it went towards the 5000 cap.
