Only want to say that if they do end up autimatically renewing your husband's and his daughter's medicals, they don't notify you. My partner's medicals expired on July 30 and they automatically renewed them but only way I knew was by seeing it in the GCMS notes (this was done back in May when they opened our file at the visa office). Otherwise I would still be wondering if they would be sending him a request to redo.
Thats good. Hope they dont ask for it lol

Not sure how they determine who they will extend validity for, as it seems some people have to redo and others not, even with no health issues. For sure it's a headache to have to redo them!

Maybe it depends how long they anticipate the completion of the process is, it is never consistant

It is easy. If your (and anybody's else) medical results expire soon (they are valid one year only) but background check has not been completed yet ,they will ask to redo the test to be sure that when the background check is done they can issue a visa as soon as they are ready.

In my case and many who are outland and applicant not in canada, have to get their eligibility completed before the background check is even started. I wish they kept the medical to be done towards the end of the eligibility to ensure it is not having to be done so many times.

Well, how could they be sure at the moment of your application that you could have a problem with your background check in the future? Not many applicants got in such a trouble and usually visas are issued long before the med test expires.

Maybe for certain countries but
Not for dominican republic, its rarely quick there for them :(
I know many who applied inland and they did their background check first, opposite of outland applicants that arent in canada during the processing

Yet, they didn't ask my partner to redo his medical exam, even though our background review is still in progress. His medicals expired on July 30, but they granted him a new validity date of May 18, 2018. The notes said that was done on May 18, 2017 ... so they extended it for a year from the date they processed the extension. I sure hope we get the PPR long before that!

hi

I am not sure if we will have to redo the medical, but just asking to be ahead of the game here. Both my husband and his daughter had to get their medical done with their application. Old application but new timeline (app rec de. 7 2016 so we fall within new timeline).
His medical was done in Nov or oct last year, it will be expired and his daughther too.

However, his daughter is NOT coming with him to canada and CIC is aware of that, so if medical is to be redone, will it only be his, since he is the only one coming here??
Sorry for intervention, have they asked the non accompanying family member to redo the medical?
