Hello guys,

I am about to graduate from a Canadian University with a bachelor degree (in April 2015). I know that I need to acquire a 1 year of work experience to be qualified for CEC regardless of the new EE policy. So my question is, under EE policy, before I meet my 1 year work experience, is there anything I can do/prepare to make sure when my 1 year requirement is met, I can get PR asap? Should I complete online Express Entry profile in advance? Also, what should I do when I receive a job offer next year?

Another question:
I understand full-time co-op/internship experience (when I acquire in school) does not count towards the 1 year work experience. So if I have them, should I go for Federal skilled workers class instead? What are the advantages for going under CEC?

Sorry for the long question, my objective is to get PR asap, because I have a deadline due to my current citizenship :(

Thank you,
Terry

You'll have to wait and see when the system is up and running. But as I understand it, you will need to meet the criteria of one of the economic class programs before being accepted in to the pool - and all programs have a skilled work experience requirement (one year for CEC, FSW...)

Other than that, you will need to have a language exam score report (IELTs or CELPIP) with results that meets the program criteria. Those are valid for 2 years and must be submitted with the EE application.

As for your job search, you will need to understand the difference between jobs that are considered "skilled" (NOC O,A, or B) and "unskilled," since skilled work experience is required. http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/html/Matrix.html

You don't say what province you are in, but you can look into your Provincial Nominee Program. In Ontario, if you are a graduate with a job offer, you might qualify under the PNP program.

Hi jes_ON,

I am in Ontario, and thank you for your reply! If I was able to be qualified for PNP, do I still need to acquire 1 year of work experience before I can apply for PR? If i don't, PNP seems like the fastest option :) Though the application fee seems to be quite expensive :(

You can read about Ontario's PNP programs and requirements here:
http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/OI/en/pnp/index.htm

Yes, Ontario's PNP is pretty expensive, but if it's an option, it might be better than the alternative...

Thank you for your reply! It really helps. I think I will try to go with PNP, if it's possible, o/w, I would go for CEC.

Yes, you can apply again, but you should understand that EE is not an immigration program, it is an "application management system," You still have to qualify for FSW, CEC, or FST - and if you receive an invitation to apply, you will have to apply through one of those programs.

But yes, it is permitted to apply again -

pass IELTS as high score as you can . then when you get half year experience, star to prepare left material .

PNP whole time is long . 1.5 year about . EE half year.

so all in short, get a good job is the key to be fast .
