Hello everyone!! Can you please help me regarding the matter!

My class starts from September 1st acc to my LOA. I’ve applied for my visa on July 20 and not received any updates yet.
So please help me, Shall i start the process of deferment now so as to present a new LOA for IRCC before Sept 1st?

OR Shall i wait until I receive results even if the starting date is passed??

Your response would mean a great deal!!
TIA

Hello!

I also applied in July 20 non-sds and no updates yet.

I am thinking to wait until August 31. My college starts from September 8. If I don’t get result within 31st August then, i will defer to jan 2021 intake.

In your case, I think you should wait until this week. If you don’t get result then proceed to defer. If you’re risk taker then, you can start your online class without receiving AIP as you still will be eligible for PGWP but it’s very risky; if you didn’t get AIP or your student visa is rejected then you will lose your tuition fees.

So, I think you should wait until this week, defer if you didn’t get AIP before this week.

I’m also waiting for my result like you. Best of luck..

Exactly, i also have joined for 1 year graduate certificate program.

I will wait until August 31 to see if i get AIP; if i then i will defer to jan 2021. If i don’t get before 31st August then obviously defer.

So, at the end it’s deferment for me. But it’s upto you..

@tapperb thanks a lot for your reply. Actually it's masters degree 2 years course. I just wanted to know if it is completely okay to defer after Sept 1st i.e; my course start date?

and will my visa get any negative impact if i didn't defer until i get AIP?

Step 1 : Be clear of your deferral deadline
Step 2 : Wait 2 days before the deferral deadline. If no response, defer. If you get a response before that you're good to go.

NOTE: Deferral deadline might be before course start date which was my case so be clear of all the dates.

Thanks alot for your reply. Actually, my program does not have a deferral deadline. I asked them and they said so. So, do you think its good to deffer even after start date is surpassed?

There has to be a last date before which you need to submit your deferral request. Maybe its your course start date. Have a mail confirmation of the same from your Institution. Plan to have a small buffer between actual deadline and your decision date. In the mean time, apply for GCMS notes to know status of the application. You should receive it in like 10 days.

Well yeah it has to be but my course is research based masters degree so I need to attend in person classes and need to attend labs. May be that's why my program doesn't have deadline.
