I am currently in Canada on a temporary work permit. When my passport comes back with the PR visa, is it possible to go outside Canada and come back using my temporary work permit? Or will my coming back automatically become my "landing" thereby canceling my TWP? I was just wondering because I will be traveling a lot in the next few months for my job and I cannot wait two months after the landing to wait for the PR card...

As long as you are in Canada (and do not re-enter from outside), you can continue in your TWP.
If you go out and re-enter, better do that as a Landing process. Having a PR Visa affixed in your Passport but entering not as a PR may create issues.
You can always travel with your COPR/Passport even if you do not have the PR Card.
This will also help you to initiate Residency requirement for the PR
