When is the Permanent Residence fee collected?

Hi All

My wife and I applied in March 2018. We are on the last few steps. Background check started 2 weeks ago and I was curious of when they will be collecting the rest of the money which is around $490 that we did no pay up front. Our application is being processed in Mississauga if that determines it.

It's impossible to say as the BGC is the longest and most laborious part of the process. You're only a few months into the process.

Okay, seems as other have gotten this though, so I thought there was a set time.

We still have not received a fee requested yet while others who have applied just before and after have. As well as people 1 month ahead of us are already getting dm's and landing from Mississauga office.

I have reached 1 year mark and it hasn't been asked yet. Anyone know when this happens? Background check in process since Feb 2018.

People seem to be getting it when approaching the end of their BGC, but BGC seems to be of a completely indeterminate length depending on the application, VO, and a bunch of other stuff we don't know about, so I don't think there's really a way to say when it comes other than "when you are near the end". If you haven't gotten it yet, you're probably not as near the end as those who have would be my assumption.

Ha! We'll see, I'd love it if you were right. I'm one of the people whose BGC isn't listed as having started so who knows what that means.
