When does the implied status start?

Hello, everyone!
I'm from a visa exempt country, but right now I'm in Canada under a temporary visa since I got an extension to stay longer. My visa extension ends next week (on Sep. 17), but I just submitted my Common-law partnership visa (in Canda class) + OWP.
Should I apply for another visa extension or am I already under the implied status due to the OWP application although I didn't get an AOR yet?
When does the implied status start: once I get the AOR or what?

TIA

Youre under implied since you sent the owp app. If for some reason its returned however, you will not have implied status. I would apply to extend your stay if i were you

Implied Status is the "in-between" status. It will start when your current status expires.

Yes, you should apply for a visitor extension, as a back-up in case your PR and/or OWP app is returned.

Thanks for replying.
If I apply for another visa extension, how long do you suggest I ask for? 4, 6 months?
Are there chances of getting denied since I'm requesting a second extension?

thanks a lot

There was a user in another thread who had been in Canada for 3 years by extending his stay 6 months at a time, so I don't think they'll have too much of a problem as long as you're still a legitimate visitor (you haven't worked or studied illegally). I would go with 6 months, it seems like a pretty standard extension length. If you're worried, you have the option to include an explanation with your extension (as an additional document) where you can explain that you've submitted an OWP application with your PR application and are seeking an extension so that you can maintain legal status in case your PR/OWP application gets returned after your current status expires

Ask for the standard 6 months. State that you have submitted a spousal sponsorship app and include proof.

Another question: While applying for the visa extension, should i mention that the purpose of my visit is to await an answer on the OWP+PR or just say family visit? :s

It's both. Awaiting a decision (and covering your butt in case your application gets returned) while staying with your family. Because if the decision doesnt go your way (if you don't get the work permit) you're still there to visit family.

As I said in my previous post, state that you have applied for sponsorship and include proof.
