When does security verifications start processing?

how can you tell security is started from gcms notes. can you kindly help in detail or paste relevant section from your gcms after hiding your personal info. I will really appreciate.

In the GCMS notes under assessments you will see:
Eligibility: passed
Security: (its blank they don't say its in progress)
Criminality: passed
Medical : passed

So these are the main stages your application goes through during processing, i assume since i passed criminality, medical, and eligibility there is only security left which is the background check

Other way u can know your background check started is as our friend PKforever said When you login to you GCKey's under the Background Check it will say " in progress "

Also i emailed the embassy in August 2016 about updates and they said that my application is undergoing security verifications conducted by the CBSA and that they can't give me a time frame.

why so long? Do you have a common name, excessive travel, or military service etc. Some people get ppr within a few weeks of med pass. I wonder what causes long time.

Nope nothing out of the ordinary, no military no travel. The MP says it takes longer for middle eastern countries, especially men. Can take over a year. It sucks but you can't really get details or information on why its taking so long. Its all just assumptions..
