Guys once you get your PR, how much time we have before we leave for Canada?
Meaning how many more months can stay in my home country before PR gets invalid?

Before expiry of pr entry visa.

One year from your medicals.

in some cases they count the validity as one year from the date of issuing visa.
In some cases they issue one year validity from the datebof medical done.
Anyway it will be mentioned when they issue the visa.
but it's better to land as early as possible once you have the visa

1. The COPR is always valid for 1 year from the date of the medical, or the expiry of the passport, whichever comes first.

my friend got only 6 months after the visa was issued. They counted 1 year from medical.
But visa was issued 6 months after the medical.
So it is not the same for every case. It depends

Thanks for above information. In my case my FSW application is already in Process. I think that I shall receive Medical Request in or around Dec,2014. Whereas my passport (copy of which I submitted with my application) is going to expire in March 2015. It means let us assume if I get PR visa stamped and get COPR in let us assume February 2015, then I shall be left only with one month to land in Canada? Will that be the case?

And worst if my passport gets expired prior to the receiving of medical request in that case what will be the next step? Whether my visa office will ask me to renew the passport and submit copy of the renewed passport?

Better to renew passport now.

You can renew the passport now and update your application with the new passport number, I renewed my passport right before I started my process.
I understand that any travel and/or changes in particulars, marital relationship, newborn child, address, etc. can be updated and supporting documents have to be provided for the same.

Hope links below are helpful, I am not allowed to post links hence adding the extention to the cic website www . cic . gc . ca

maybe that was due to the validity of his passport (or one of his accompanying family members passport).

You MUST renew your passport ASAP regardless of any situation. The reason is that ALMOST NO airline will let you fly with a passport expiring within 6 or 3 months (depending on the airline). You can simply update the VO of the renewed passport and send the new one for stamping when asked.

Hi frnds,

Understand we have to land within one year from medical.
However, i want to know. If we are able to complete our landing with in one year.

And later want to delay our actual landing and shifting to canada. What is suggested.
By which year one must shift. Keeping in mind that renewal of PR should not get into trouble.

you can stay abroad for a maximum of 2 years 11 months and 29 days on the 30th day you should be on the plane heading back to canada

Thanks emamabd

So to put it in other words, Land with in first year & From your PR issue date or Medical date one cannot be out for more than 3 years.

This is on backdrop that for PR renewal 2 years of continuous stay is a must.

;D
