Hello everybody,

I have just graduated from university in April. Now I am a full-time research assistant for my professor from 12 May to 15 August, but the salary is student rate (~$12/h). In September, my professor is going to re-new the contract, maybe one year long with better salary ( ~ $22/h). So I am wondering when I could apply for the PR under CEC program. In the past, I also had some experiences as a "Student research assistant" from May 2012 to August 2012 (full-time), and from September 2012 to March 2013 (part-time). I also had experience as a "Co-op Programmer" from June 2013 to August 2013. So I am wondering if the work experiences prior my graduate are counted in the CEC application.

Thanks

Any experience before Graduation is not considered as a experience required toward CEC. So may be you can try May, 2015 when you finish your one year.

No, not as long as you were a full-time student (and summer holidays don't change your student status).

Do you have a work permit? You are NOT registered as a graduate student? The university considers you an employee? You need a minimum of 1 year (52 weeks) of authorized, skilled, full-time experience after graduation.

Note that there will be changes to the program (we don't know exactly what the changes will be) before you are eligible, so stay tuned...

Yes, I have post-graduate work permit.
I have been working as a research assistant right after my graduation in May 10th. But the problem is that my current salary is student rate and the payment system of university considers me as a student. However, what I am doing everyday is not much different than other full-time research assistants' work in the lab - we are building prototypes for various innovative mobile applications. So it is really confusing, I don't know if I could use experience of this current position for the CEC application.
Thanks

Very interesting situation. But I think CEC based on full time work exp only

Eligibility criteria are on the CIC website:
