Hi Guys,

I started my full-time work since August,2012 under my off-campus work permit. I defended my thesis in early Sep, 2012 and filed my application for post-graduate work permit around middle Sep and got it at the end of Oct. I have continued the full-time work at the same company until now. When will I qualify for the CEC application? Thanks.

When did you convocate? In other words, when was the ceremony held to confer your degree? Only work completed after you degree was awarded will be counted.

The convocation was held in October,2012. But I got a letter from graduate school to confirm that I have finished all the requirement in the degree, which help me get my post-graduate work permit.

I would start with the latest date. It seems that is the degree conferral on this case.

Hey unb_wood
One of the biggest reason for CEC denial is that applicants fail to show the 1 year experience.
So I would ask you to count 1 year from the date written on your certificate.

Then you can only count the time from October forward and the earliest you'll be able to apply is October 2013. As others have said, one of the refusal reasons we see here fairly often is people applying too early and counting time before they convocated.

You can only apply under CEC after 12 months of full time work is completed under your post graduate work permit.
Hope that helps!

That is a good point. I am re-using this to put emphasis: after 12 months of full time work is completed under your post graduate work permit

Thanks for this information guys, even I was not aware of this.

So, I am also going to count my 1 year from the time I received my post graduate work permit.

Thank you
