Hi I had a very distressing question. At what point in the PR spousal sponsorship process is the criminal record check done? is it at the very beginning with the medical? How is it done if the person is from Australia but they are applying inland?Do they do fingerprints in Canada and send it with a request from their country for a record check?

What happens if the person had some minor charges but just paid fine and received no convictions?(ie graffiti and drug paraphenilia no drug) will this have an effect on the outcome of the PR application?we are very concerned. is the criminal check done after first stage approval or before?thanks

I'm not sure what you mean specifically by criminal check, but you have to attach original police certificates to the application when you send it in.

yes my question is about the police certificates.how could he do the name and fingerprint police certificate ahead of time when it needs to be requested by the visa office?i looked on australia's police certificate website and it said the result gets sent directly to the visa office.therefore, i assume your app would already have to be in or started etc.?

does anyone know about this?
and if you have been charged but not convicted, will that have an impact on ur PR application?

I also have a question.
If a US citizen has a drug paraphernalia charge does this count against him in Canada as being criminally inadmissible?

Hi I'm in Australia and I did a police check before sending in the application. Keep in mind that I'm doing this outland, applying via the Sydney office. What I did was come to the local police station, they took my fingerprints, then I paid and left. The police took care of the checking and sending to the visa office. You don't need to wait for visa office to request the police check. In effect, the police might send in the result before you send in your application, but that's okay.

Here's what you do. Before sending your application, have your fingerprints taken wherever you are. (From AFP website: "Where a fingerprint check is required, it is your responsibility to obtain a full set of fingerprints from your local Police jurisdiction"). Then, send your fingerprints to the AFP, telling them to send it to your processing office in Canada, and your job is done. They'll do a check on you, then send it to your processing visa office for you. Easy peasy :)

Hello bongd or any experts,

I looked at AFP page, there are 2fingerprint payment fees, could you please advise if you pay A$ 145 or A$105? I'm confusnig with what they say over there.

What about being WA resident, I have not been driving in WA/ Australia, so neither Australian driving license. Thus, they cannot provide this State Traffic certificate and its printout, what should I do with this certificate?

Thank you for your replies

Regards,
