What's the in-person oath experience for guests?

Are they allowed to be in the room and witness the ceremony? Or are they kept out and only allowed after the ceremony has ended?

I still don't have a date for Oath, much less know if it will be in-person or virtual, but would like to know if worth bringing a close person of mine to attend.

They're allowed in the room, usually in the back, with the front seats reserved for new citizen, and they can join you if you want a picture with the person presiding the ceremony after you receive your certificate.
Also, if I remember well, no-one exiting the room during the ceremony for any reason is permitted back, so make sure the close person of yours isn't a child who may start a tantrum, or someone who needs frequent bathroom breaks.
