What's next?

I was approved as a sponsor in December 2011. On ecas, it says my wife's application has been received. It's been the same status for a few months now.

She is coming to Canada in the beginning of April. I have been told many different answers to my below questions and am now confused.

1. What are my next steps?
2. Is she going to receive her 'passport request letter' in the mail or my email?
3. How will she enter Canada when she lands at the airport if we have not received her visa yet?
4. Do I have to change her adress from her home country to Canada?

PS - In ecas the adress listed is my adress here in Canada. Does that mean all correspondence will be sent to my adress? Unfortunately I don't remember what I put in the application for my wife's correspondence to be sent to her adress or all to mine.

Nothing, really. You just wait.

2. Is she going to receive her 'passport request letter' in the mail or my email?

If you are her representative, it will come to you; likewise if you used your Canadian address as her mailing address. I think they can use mail or email. Does she have someone living at her address in Japan that can forward things to her? Or just change her address to a family member who can.

3. How will she enter Canada when she lands at the airport if we have not received her visa yet?

Without the visa she will not be able to 'land' - ie., enter Canada as an immigrant. But she is from Japan, so she can enter Canada as a visitor without a visa.

4. Do I have to change her adress from her home country to Canada?

Not necessary until she gets the visa and actually moves here, though you can if you want. She should have someone at her 'home' address in Japan to get anything from CIC forwarded to her.

1. Wait. And organize your home to welcome your spouse for good, start sorting out things like work, banking, etc.
2. Depends on how the visa office processing her application does it. Some use email, some snail mail, some telephone.
3. If she is visa-exempt, she enters as a visitor. If she is not, I hope she already has a TRV.
4. If she is visiting with you for the rest of the processing time, then yes, change her address to yours.

Address listed where? Under the Permanent Resident Application? If they have already made that change, chances are they are in the last stages of finalizing her application. It's it's under "Sponsor", and you did not list yourself as her representative, then no, correspondence will go to her address.

The adress is in ecas right under my name. It says my name the under it " Your current home adress". It says the sponsor's "Decision Made" but principal applicant " Application received"

The problem is I don't remember which section of the application was the part where it asks where you want correspondence of the principal applicant to be sent. Would it have been in the sponsor application package or principal applicant's package?

I opened the 'Generic Application form'

For contact information, We have her adress but also her email.

It says 'All correspondence will go to this adress unless you indicate your email below'

Does that mean every kind of contact we receive will go to her email?

Should we still change her adress to my adress in Canada, or it doesn't matter?

Some offices are modern enough to use email for correspondence, so yes, they would use your wife's email rather than snail mail.

As I said, if she's staying with you until processing is completed, yes, update her address to yours.
