What's next with my application? Fingerprints were requested again...

Hi, my app was sent to Buffalo and received March 8, 2012 and my sponsor was approved in July. I just received an email from Ottawa requesting fingerprints and the $490 fee yesterday. I submitted my fingerprints to the FBI prior to sending in my app and included the FBI report with my application in March. Why does CIC need an original set of fingerprints on the RCMP form? Is this standard protocol? I did it today and sent the fingerprint form to Ottawa but I don't understand why I had to do this twice. :-X

What is the next step? Does anyone have a rough estimate of how much time I have left? I need to start working in December in Canada and I'm debating on applying for another work visa.

Thanks in advance!

You may have a name similar to someone in Canada, and they need to verify your identity. That is why you were requested to provide your fingerprints on an RCMP form and not a re-do of your FBI form. The RCMP will check your prints against those on file and confirm you are/are not the person they have on record.

On the bright side, being asked to pay the RPRF means you are well on your way to being approved, so hopefully you should be sorted soon. If you can get another work visa in the next 3 months, go ahead, but likely your PR processing will be concluded by then.

Thanks for the quick reply Charlie! I do have a very common name and I have had problems with it crossing the border. Once the border agents figure out it's me I'm fine though. I've even been told to say my middle name at the border.

I have a job that starts in Canada in December. I'm not sure it will be worth applying for another work visa. Should I bother getting a CAIPS report? I was going to request the basic report today but maybe it's not worth it at this point...?

Getting excited...:)

You can get the GCMS (formerly CAIPS) in about 30 days, so go ahead and order them, sure.

Be excited. :) The RPRF request is a great sign.

P.S. John Smith, is that you? Haha! ;)

I just read that my spouse (sponsor) was supposed to pay the RPRF but I paid it online with my CC. Do you think this will be a problem?

As long as its paid to the correct place, I hardly think it matters.

Sent the RPRF receipt in today but I put my name, dob, UCI, etc. on the receipt. I just read on here that it should be my sponsor's info on the receipt...any suggestions?

Again, it should be OK. Your UCI is tied to your sponsor's so they should be able to match it up. Fax a copy to the office handling your application as well.
