Hey all
My partner and I are currently in Canada, both UK passport holders. My partner has a work permit through her job (lasting for 12 months) in a 'highly skilled job' (NOC code A I think). I am currently on a tourist visa, which has about 4 months remaining.
I want to be get an open work permit, which I believe will last until her work permit expires - allowing me to stay in the country with her beyond the 4 months (and get a job obviously).
We have been together a long time, and lived together for more than a year back in the UK.
We've been told we just need to go to the border and re-enter canada with me applying for my open work permit, with the relevant documents. I'm just wondering what the 'relevant documents' are?
Which official documents do I need to take with me?
And what other supporting material do I need?
I have rental agreements in both our names from our previous tenancy, we have a joint back account, and can provide proof of holiday flights together etc. What else is needed or are there any other 'official' forms / documents needed?
Thanks all, any advice / comments are much appreciated, even if its just for one of the points or a bit of knowledge about it al, its quite hard to get your head round everything.
Nick

- 1. There's this declaration that I'm pretty sure we need: www .cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5409E.PDF
- 2. Do I need to provide documents to support a TRV as well ie this checklist www .cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5484E.PDF
- 3. Is there an official checklist I can use? I cant seem to find one.
- 4. Is the 'additional family form' needed - www .cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5406E.pdf
- 5. I've got this checklist but I'm pretty sure this is for sponsorship only www .cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5443E.pdf
