Hi guys...
anyone know what to prepare/bring when landing?
is there any specific papers that the officers in airport/immigration will asked for?

hi there - you will need medical insurance as the provincial insurance doesnt kick in for a few weeks ... good luck!

All CBSA want to see is your passport with Visa in it and your COPR document..they dont ask for anything else..I landed last week and was surprised to find thats ALL they want to see... Depending on which province your landing in it may take a few weeks to get medical insurance or in my case 3 months with OHIP! So make sure you have medical but its not a requirement to land...

britincanada....what is COPR documents?
would you mind explain that to me? Thank you

COPR is you Confirmation of Permanent Residence. It is a paper document you received when you got the visa in your passport. It is important so keep it in a safe place after landing. I think you need it for renewing your PR or applying for citizenship if not both.

Landing is surprisingly easy after the PR process. You give the IO your papers and passport, answer some questions (has your situation changed like gotten married etc since you applied, what CAN address for sending the PR card, etc), they fill some stuff in the computer and then you are done. If you have goods with you to declare or goods to follow, then you go to customs and present your B4 form with the list and value of your items. They stamp it, you get a receipt and you are done. 15-20 minutes at most not counting any waiting time.

You'll need your goods to follow list too if anythings being sent to canada :)

thank you allison :)
silver_spirit: how to make the lists...i'm going to bring with me my clothes, our wedding pics, shoes, my dvd music collections, bags.
can you share with me how to the list? where i can get the form for this lists?
thank you.

See here:

Also, B4 and B4A from here:

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/menu-eng.html

(B4 is goods you have with you, B4a is goods to follow)

You can make the landing process smoother by having those filled in before hand. Some people complete a goods to follow list as a spreadsheet, but in the same format as B4a. Customs will appreciate it if you do that, it makes their life easier.

Note, valuables need to be separately listed. Low-value items can be grouped, e.g. "Books, 4 boxes, total value approx $100", "Clothes ... etc" or whatever. Very expensive items should be accompanied by appraisal / insurance document stating their value if you have one.

i'm not going to have any goods on later date. everything will be only the bag with me and the bag in the cabin, so i fill only B4 or both of B4 and B4a?
thanks

Use the B4A it's more simple.

What Allison said pretty much covers it lol, i was in canada prior to landing so had nothing with me for landing, if you decide to have anything following you i can send you a sample list of what i used for landing :)

Pelda, you might not want to post your email on a thread. there are often people who look at these threads without the best intentions. Try to send people private messages with this kind of information. :)

Alberta Health Care is available immediately to Permanent Residents moving to Alberta

Okay emailed that, and as i said in my email, i'd remove your address right away to save you having problems later!

And with regards to the AB healthcare, it's immidiate as long as you know where to go, have your COPR/PR card and some proof of address, i had an issue of having no proof of my canadian address yet!
