What to do with your 401K?

For those who are emigrating or have immigrated from the US to Canada, what do you do with your 401Ks? Do you keep them in US accounts?

I’ve rolled over my 401(K) into an IRA. I plan to leave the account in the US but switch to a broker who would allow me to actively manage it as a Canadian resident.

The reason a broker is needed is that you need a US address to maintain the account?
