What to do in the case of parents dying?

Hello,

We are a couple of permanent residents with a 4yo child born in Canada.

This might be a bit paranoid, but I am wondering what happens in the event that both of us die and our daughter survives us? We don't have any family in Canada, but in our country of origin we do. We have discussed this with our extended family and identified a couple of uncles who would take care of our daughter.

How would you see this happening? I assume the child would be put in some sort of public care while things are sorted out (which I assume they would, but maybe not).

We wouldn't want our child to live in a public system when there are loving family members who would take care of her.

In the event both of you die, the government steps in and finds a foster home for your kid unless you have made a will. In which case your family will step in (depending on names you have put in the will) to take care of the kid
If you are so paranoid about loosing your life I highly suggest you get life insurance and also create a will.

If you want to make legal preparations for what would happen to your daughter if you both die, you need to go to a lawyer, draw up a will and put guardianship measures in place. Otherwise if you die without having made provisions the state will have to step in. This is a legal matter.
